Sonic and Spyro chapter 8

After unlocking the cave, Spyro and Cynder picked up the items needed to launch the raft. As they were about to go to where the raft was, Sonic spotted a couple of fishing nets, each one attached to a pole. “Spyro, we have to get those fishing nets out of the way.” Said Sonic. “You and Knuckles do that whilst me and Cynder launch the raft.” Sonic and Knuckles went to where the fishing poles were. Knuckles spotted a machine behing them. “Sonic, you think that machine could pull them in?” asked Knuckles. “I think so. Let’s give it a shot.” Sonic replied. Sonic and Knuckles went over to the machine and pulled the switches which made the poles go in. “What should we do?” asked Knuckles. “We go back to the village and wait for Spyro and Cynder” Answered Sonic. As they were heading towards the village, Knuckles sensed something. Then a dark energy bolt hit them. The effect of the attacked caused Sonic and Knuckles to fly backwards. “You’re so weak!” shouted a familiar voice. Sonic and Knuckles got up to see a figure shrouded in darkness with only his eyes gleaming in light. They recognized the figure. “Shadow?” asked Knuckles. The dark hedghog only responded by grabbing hold of Knuckles arm and twisted it. Knuckles screamed in agony. Shadow smiled and kicked Knuckles in the stomach. Knuckles collapsed. Sonic home-attacked Shadow, but the dark hedgehog just grabbed hold of Sonic’s arm and spun him round. The dark hedgehog then threw Sonic in the air, jumped up and kicked Sonic’s jaw. The blue hedgehog fell onto the ground with a thud. Sonic saw the Sword of Warfang laid on the ground in front of him. Sonic tried to grab hold of it. But Shadow landed in front of Sonic and grabbed him by the throat. He tightened his grip. Sonic was on the verge of death until Knuckles rammed into Shadow. “You dare try and attack me?” shouted Shadow, enraged. He pulled out a gun and tried to shoot at the echidna. This was Sonic’s chance. Sonic leg-locked Shadow’s arm and spun round, causing Shadow to collapse. Sonic ran to grab the sword. Shadow launched his Chaos Spear at Sonic. Sonic turned round and saw the spear heading straight for him. He quickly dodged the spear. Shadow teleported to where the sword was and took it. The sword was his. Knuckles went to punch Shadow, but the dark hedgehog struck Knuckles’ arm. “Pathetic!” commented Shadow, as he kicked Knuckles’ face. Sonic ran to stop Shadow. But Shadow shot a dark energy bolt at Sonic which made the blue headgehog fly backwards. Hitting a pile of rocks, Sonic was weakened. Shadow laughed maniacally, as he walked towards the battle-weakened Sonic. “So long, Sonic the Hedgehog.” Said Shadow. As he was about to strike him down, a ball of fire was shot at Shadow’s hand that was holding the sword. It was Spyro and Cynder. “Well, well. If it isn’t the purple dragon and the queen of darkness.” Mocked Shadow. “Shadow, stop it. Why are you attacking your friends?” Said Spyro. The dark hedgehog just laughed. “I don’t have friends. I serve only Malefor.” Growled Shadow. Shadow held out his sword and charged at Spyro. Suddenly, a sword got in the way. It was Sonic. “You are weakened and still you want to fight.” Said Shadow. “I won’t let you destroy Spyro. I’ll take you on.” Shouted Sonic. Sonic and Shadow drew their swords and attacked. Sonic cut Shadow’s arm and stuck his chest. But his wounds healed quickly. Shadow kicked Sonic out of the way. Shadow turned to Spyro and smiled at him, wickedly. “Your legend ends here, Spyro.!” Shouted Shadow. He threw his sword like a javelin. Spyro shut his eyes, expecting the worst to happen. Suddenly, a scream was heard. It wasn’t Cynder or himself. When he opened his eyes, he stood in horror. Sonic stood in front of him, with a stab wound right through him. Shadow took his sword out of him. Sonic collapsed on the ground. Knuckles got up to see Sonic lying on the ground. “No!” shouted Knuckles. Shadow turned to Spyro. “Now it’s your turn.” Said Shadow. Spyro looked at Sonic. “Spyro, run. Ru…” said Sonic, as his eyes closed in death. Spyro, Cynder and Knuckles ran. Shadow was about to chase them until the cheetahs from the village attacked Shadow. The dark hedgehog vanished into thin air.

After Meadow returned to the village, everyone mourned for Sonic’s passing. Spyro felt so angry and sad at the same time. “Are you OK, Spyro?” asked Cynder. “I don’t know.” Answered Spyro. “If I didn’t stand where I was, Sonic wouldn’t have died.” Cynder looked at Spyro, apologetically. “It wasn’t your fault, Spyro. He did it to save you.” “His sacrifice for us wouldn’t have been in vain.” Said Sparx. This was the first time Sparx said something and meant it. Knuckles was sitting next to the fire talking to Hunter. “Is there a way of bringing Sonic back.” Asked Hunter. “I don’t know.” Answered Knuckles. “We should go to Warfang and find the elders. Maybe they know a way. We’ll take Sonic with us.” With that, Hunter, Knuckles, and the dragons took Sonic’s body and went off to the City of Warfang.

Meanwhile, Shadow went to Malefor’s Lair. “Well done, Shadow. Even though you didn’t kill Spyro, at least you got rid of that pesky blue rat.” Commented Malefor. “Yes, with Sonic out of the way, I will get my chance to kill the purple dragon and the world will be yours to rule.” Replied Shadow. “He won’t be dead for long, though. Spyro and his companions are heading to the City of Warfang. They’re going to resurrect Sonic. My army will also be reaching the same destination and destroy the city. This will be your chance to destroy Spyro, once and for all.” Explained Malefor. “I’ll make sure that Spyro wished he had never been born, master.” Said Shadow, as he left to continue his mission.
